NOOLII Caoba 010.jpg

Designed by Tania Álvarez Zaldívar and produced by ITZ, Noolii’s tessellated forms emerge from a curated selection of four geometries chosen from a larger set of sixteen sculptural shapes generated parametrically.

In their application in wood, the system reflects principles of interpolation found in typography. Just as letterforms can be designed from condensed to extended versions, or modified through changes in their vertical metrics, the modular proportion of each tessellation can be stretched and compressed, generating a coherent family of related forms.

These controlled variations create a structured universe of shapes, materialized in wooden panels that function as a continuous and scalable system rather than as isolated elements. The panels combine curved modules with variable relief and flat tessellations, allowing the surface to transition from subtle movement to more pronounced expression, according to the spatial intent or each client’s preference.

Each piece is handcrafted and finished by local artisans in Buenavista, Quintana Roo, at the workshop of Celso Kumul Caamal. This deeply artisanal process gives every module — and every composition — a unique character and identity, where geometric precision engages in dialogue with the human touch.

The panels are available in standard dimensions of 60 × 90 cm, as well as in custom sizes starting from 40 × 40 cm. They are produced in Mahogany or in curated combinations of tropical woods such as Tzalám, Katalox, Jabim, Pucté, and Ziricote. All wood used in Noolii panels is endemic to southern Mexico and sourced from local ejidos operating under certified responsible forest management programs.
